The Nursing and Midwifery Training College kumasi (NMTC) in Kumasi is one of Ghana’s public tertiary health institutions overseen by the Ministry of Health for the education of well-qualified professionals with theoretical and evidence-based practical skills required for competent care delivery in a variety of settings.
In 1957, the college was founded by the Medical Mission Sisters of the Kumasi Church, and since then, it has trained healthcare professionals for more than 60 years, with over four thousand students and alumni and over fifty courses including diploma, post-basic, and certificate programmes in nursing, midwifery, and other disciplines offered.

NMTC, Kumasi is situated at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, in Ghana’s Ashanti Region and affiliated with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. The Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC), Ghana oversee the operations, curriculum, and exams of the school, respectively. The institution is accredited by the National Accreditation Board, Ghana.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Entry Requirements for Basic Nursing Programmes
1.Students with WASSCE should have credit- between A1-C6 -in six (6) subjects, including three (3) Core subjects, English Language, Mathematics and Integrated
Science, and three (3) Elective subjects applicable to the programme of study.
- Students with SSSCE should have credit- between A-D -in six (6) subjects which are made up of three (3) Core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science are included in the core courses), and three (3) Elective subjects (subjects that are pertinent to the study programme).
- For students with TVET Qualifications, credit in three Core subjects- English and mathematics mandatory -and passes in three elective subjects related to the academic programme is required.
- You can also apply if you’re waiting for the May/June, 2023 WASSCE, or NABPTEX RESULTS.
- Only students between the ages of 16-35 can apply.

Entry Requirements for Post- Basic Nursing Programmes
1.Applicants should not be more than 50 years and will have to undergo a medical fitness test.
2.Requirements for Post Basic Nursing and Midwifery Programmes vary according to the programme of study.
Perioperative Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, ENT Nursing, and Ophthalmic (BSc)
Mandatory one year Rotation/Internship/National Service is required
Three years experience in a relevant Basic area OR two (2) years work experience upon a request from a facility after internship.
Required qualification: RGN, Physician Assistants, RMN, RM, RCN.
Public Health Nursing (BSc)
Mandatory one (1) year Rotation/Internship/National Service
Three (3) years experience in a relevant Basic area OR two (2) years work experience upon a request from a facility after internship.
Qualification required: RGN, RMN, RM, RCN.
Post NAC/NAP Midwifery
At least three (3) years’ experience in a relevant Auxiliary area.
Qualification required: General Nurse, Physician Assistant (Medical)
(BSc) Anesthesia
At least one (1) year Rotation/Internship/National Service.
Two (2) years’ experience in a relevant Basic area OR one (1) year work experience upon a request from a facility after internship.
Qualification required: General Nurse, Physician Assistant (Medical)
